Five minutes ago I got off the phone with a friend of mine who (gasp!) only has a landline phone. Refuses to have a cell phone. He claims not to be a Luddite but rather a 42 year old man with no desire to be in constant contact with people. So maybe a hermit is a better description - a digital hermit. And I respect his decision even as I start adding to the digital tsunami with my first blog.
Curious - is there any subtext to which blog one uses? If one choses blogger, does it have a different connotation than choosing wordpress or livejournal? Is one considered more serious than another or is there demographic divide like age that differentiate between them?

Hi, Bethany
ReplyDeleteI've used both Blogger and WordPress. I found Blogger simpler and more intuitive, but that was a few years ago and there were less customization options then, I think. I could easily show coworkers how to maintain and update the Blogger blog.
WordPress took me a little longer to learn and I had to consult some help resources. I wanted to learn WordPress because there seems to be a trend for public libraries to use WordPress.org for their websites. WordPress.org is more powerful than WordPress.com and is more of a content management system. WordPress.com allows you to create a free blog hosted by WordPress. WordPress.org requires a web host.
